What is Kanna?
Kanna (Sceletium Tortuosum from Mystic Herbs) is a herb that can be used as a stimulant. You can sniff it, vape it, drink it as a tea or add to for example chocolate milk. Kanna helps to improve mood and reduces fears. In South Africa the herb is used as an euphoric stimulant by the Khoikhoi. The Dutch who later arrived in South Africa called the herb Kougoed.

Effect of Kanna
Kanna is a good natural tranquilizer. It brings a positive mood and a good mental balance. At higher doses one can experience euphoric feelings and the connection with the surroundings can be experienced as more intense. The first effect after use is lightly stimulating, after an hour this changes to a more relaxing effect. Several users notice a positive effect on the libido and a higher sensitivity for touch.
Using Kanna
Kanna (Sceletium Tortuosum from Mystic Herbs) can be chewed, sniffed, taken as a tea and being mixed with for example chocolate milk. You chew Kanna by mixing a dose of 100mg to 1 gram with a piece of chewing gum. To sniff, a dose of 20 mg is sufficient to notice effects. To prepare Kanna tea, you take half a spoon of Kanna and 1 cup of hot water, let this steep for 15 minutes. It is also possible to extract the active components with alcohol.

The active ingredient of Kanna (Sceletium Tortuosum) are:
- Mesembrine
- Mesembrenol
- Turtuosamine
- Mesembrenone
The alkaloid Mesembrine is the most important component, it concerns a Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI).
Warnings
Kanna concerns a Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Don't combine Kanna with other SSRI's such as Seroxat, Prozac etc. Also do not combine with MAO inhibitors such as Banisteriopsis Caapi Trueno, Yohimbe, Peganum harmala and Passionflower (Passiflora incarnata).
