What is Cebil?
Cebil (pronounced seebiel) is an unusual Amazonian tree closely related to the Yopo. Other names include the Latin name Anadenanthera colubrina and local appellations vilca, huilco, huilca, wilco, willka, curupay, curupau, and angico in various languages and dialects. Cool is that the leaves can grow up to 30 centimetres long and curl up at night. The beans contain seeds that can contain up to 12.4% bufotenine and, to a lesser extent, 5-MeO-DMT and N,N-DMT. For this reason, cebil has traditionally been used by the shamans of the Tiwanaku and Wichi tribes and formerly the Wari.
What is Bufotenine?
Bufotenine or 5-HO-DMT is a potent psychedelic that produces effects similar to DMT, LSD and magic mushrooms when ingested through the nose, vaporised or under the tongue. Depending on the method of ingestion, colourful circles appear at medium doses, which develop into life-like hallucinations at higher doses. The visuals are often accompanied by intense emotional reactions. Smile kicks or crying fits are not scarce. Intense anxiety or the feeling of being about to die can also occur. For this reason, bufotenine is very definitely not suitable for the novice psychonaut. Also because it snorted gives quite a bit of irritation to the respiratory tract.
- Sniff and under the tongue - Emergence effects: 5 minutes. Peak: after 35-40 minutes. Duration: 90 minutes.
- Vapourising/Smoking - Rise effects: 15-60 seconds. Peak: after 1-5 minutes. Duration: 15-90 minutes.
Cebil Preparation
To prepare Cebil, the seeds are traditionally roasted, pulverised and mixed with ash or special lime like calcium hydroxide or calcium oxide. For a more modern approach, consult the following preparation.
Take 1 to 3 seeds per person and heat the seeds in a flame. You can do this by holding the seeds one by one with tweezers in a candle. Use a potholder against the hot tweezers. Leave the seed in the flame until it bursts. Remove the inside of the seed and discard the husk. Now heat the inside of the seed in the same way until it becomes hard and grainy. Put 2 parts seeds, 1 deel baking powder and 1 part calcium hydroxide in a mortar and grind the seeds. Add a few drops of water and mix until it becomes a dough-like substance. Heat the dough until it becomes hard and dry. Final step: back into the mortar and crush super finely! The finer the powder, the better it works.
Using Cebil
Cebil is traditionally blown into the user's nose by a shaman using a special, y-shaped snuff tube. A shaman can blow in a larger quantity than you can snort yourself. Sniffing it yourself is almost impossible to do and you understand that sniffing it yourself is not exactly a pleasant experience.
Yet Cebil and yopo are said that once you can get over the whole shaman/snuff tube concept, Cebil actually provides a very special experience. This is the way to get acquainted with bufotenine.
We recommend enjoying the effects in total darkness and without distractions.
Warning
Definitely do not combine in ayahuasca or with MAOIs. The effects will then become uncontrolled and the trip will last uncomfortably long.
