Choosing the perfect cannabis seeds from our vast selection can be quite a challenge if you're new to the game. Wondering what factors to consider as a novice grower? Let us take care of your questions and research, and present you with a selection of strains that anyone can grow with ease.

Beginner-Friendly Cannabis Seeds

As a first-time grower, you don't want to be burdened with tricky plants. After all, not all cannabis plants are created equal. Some grow significantly larger than others, while certain strains thrive in warm or cold weather, and others don't. Some strains even have a natural resistance to diseases. Did you know that some strains emit a potent aroma? Or that there are cannabis seeds that give you an extra 10 weeks to grow a plant compared to others? With such a diverse range, we've curated this selection just for you.

What Makes These Strains Easy to Cultivate?

Dutch Headshop has extensive experience in cannabis cultivation, which is why we know the key traits that make a strain easy to grow. We've handpicked our beginner-friendly cannabis seeds based on a few criteria.

  • Resistance to diseases, fungi, and pests. Arguably the most important factor for a hassle-free grow. The strains in this list boast a strong resistance to diseases and fungi, such as powdery mildew or bud rot. They're also less prone to pest infestations, including spider mites, slugs, thrips, aphids, and other pesky critters.
  • A short flowering time of no more than 8 weeks. If you've never grown cannabis before, you might not realize that the plant requires constant attention throughout its life cycle. It needs care, and you may need to intervene if issues arise during the grow. Our list includes strains that are relatively quick to harvest. Some cannabis plants require a whopping 15 weeks to flower, which can be problematic for outdoor grows due to cold, wet conditions. These beginner-friendly seeds guarantee plants that need 8 weeks or less to flower, speeding up the process and reducing your workload.
  • A maximum height of 180 cm (5.9 ft). An overly tall cannabis plant can cause problems, like growing into the lights in your grow tent or peeking above a fence. In such cases, you'll need to apply growth control techniques without damaging the plant. Moreover, a larger plant demands more intensive maintenance. Inspecting, watering, and caring for a 2-meter (6.6 ft) plant takes almost twice as long as a 1-meter (3.3 ft) one. These seeds ensure that the height remains manageable, making plant maintenance a breeze.

Autoflower Strains

You might have noticed that almost all the strains in our list of beginner-friendly cannabis seeds are autoflowers. Autoflowering strains are easier to grow because they automatically transition to the flowering stage. In contrast, regular photoperiod strains require a change in daily light hours to initiate flowering. In outdoor grows, this means waiting until there's more than 10 hours of darkness per day (usually around late August). For indoor grows, you'll need to work with complex light schedules. Autoflower strains bloom automatically, without any need to adjust light schedules. Growers who prefer to keep things simple often opt for autoflowers.
