Making weed butter is a popular method of processing cannabis into edible forms, allowing you to enjoy the benefits of weed in a discreet, healthier, and effective way. The process starts with decarboxylating the dried flowers, heating it to convert the non-psychoactive THCA into the psychoactive form THC. Then, the heated cannabis is mixed with butter and slowly heated, allowing the cannabinoids to bind to the fats in the butter. After simmering for several hours, the mixture is strained to remove plant material, leaving you with potent weed butter that can be used in various recipes, from baked goods to main courses. This method makes it easy to control dosage and offers a tasty way to consume cannabis.

But once you're done making weed butter, which can take many hours (excuse the pun), you still need to bake something with it. But that can also be tomorrow or next week with the NOIDS Buttervault. This stainless steel and silicone container accommodates 120 grams of fresh, sticky weed butter.
The Buttervault seals airtight, so your valuable weed butter stays fresh for a long time. Store it in the refrigerator until you use it. And the lid even doubles as a knife, allowing you to cut the butter into convenient portions.
Finished with the Buttervault? Then it can simply go in the dishwasher. Because the same type of food-safe and heat-resistant silicone has been used as in the POT itself.
Better Alternatives to Weed Butter
Plant oils are better. THC and CBD dissolve just as well in them, but without the cholesterol-raising effects of butter made from animal milk. Here are our favorites:
- Hemp Seed Oil: If you're going to infuse oil with, for example, the POT by NOIDS, hemp seed oil is your best bet. It's the most nutritious oil you can choose because of the extra Omega-3s you get, it's affordable, tastes fantastically nutty, and comes from hemp, making it super sustainable.
- Olive Oil: Better if you don't appreciate the nutty taste of hemp seed oil. Rich in vitamin E.
- Avocado Oil: Pricey and not as sustainable, but with a good amount of healthy fats, this is a great option for both baking and cooking at low temperatures.
- Cocoa Butter: Gives a chocolatey taste to your creations and is perfect for making cannabis-infused chocolate or sweet edibles.
- Coconut Oil/Coconut Fat: Rich in saturated fats, making it an excellent medium for extracting THC and other cannabinoids. It's also versatile in use, from baking to direct consumption. However, it's not the healthiest option. Coconut oil remains solid at room temperature. Keep that in mind when purchasing. For that reason, it's also called coconut fat and is a good substitute for butter if you need a solid substance.
