Vaporizing weed, hash or concentrates with a vaporizer has many advantages over smoking a joint. The only challenge is to keep these devices working properly. That's why you need to clean a vaporizer carefully. Do you fail to do so? Then it doesn't work properly anymore, it will taste like a chimney or it will even break down. Therefore we offer clear instructions on this page.
Why should you clean your Vaporizer?
Our customer service regularly receives messages about vaporizers that no longer work as they should. In many cases it appears that the vaporizer is dirty and therefore no longer does what it should. Even though we clearly state that cleaning your vaporizer is extremely important! Yet many people do not take this message seriously. Therefore, the following answer to the question: "Why should you clean a vaporizer?”
- The vapour from the vaporizer is going to taste very dirty if you don't clean the device. Dirt builds up on the inside of the mouthpiece, the oven, and the air passage. Every time you take a hit, the vapour passes through this dirt. Imagine: how do you get out of a chimney if it hasn't been cleaned for ages?
- Little to no vapour comes out of the vaporizer. For many people a reason to think that the device itself is not working properly, but nothing could be further from the truth. If, over time, the parts become clogged with dirt and, for example, vapour can no longer pass through the mesh or screen, the vaporizer no longer produces vapour. Then you can draw all you want, but nothing happens!
- A dirty vaporizer is incredibly unhealthy. The dirt that the vapour passes through gets into your lungs. This is not good for your health. Many people buy a vaporizer because vaporizing is less harmful than smoking. Just make sure it stays clean and you don't inhale dirty and unhealthy vapour.
- Last but not least: your vaporizer will break. If dirt builds up inside the vaporizer, the heat has nowhere to go. Essential parts inside the vaporizer can withstand heat, but not if it remains too long and the hot air has nowhere to go. It can also happen that dirt takes on liquid forms due to the heat and flows to places where it shouldn't, such as the heating element or an electrical component. With all its consequences!

How to clean the Vaporizer?
Follow the steps below to properly clean your vaporizer. For cleaning, use the items that come with the vaporizer. For example, alcohol wipes, scrapers, pipe cleaners, brushes and other tools. Note that not every vaporizer is supplied with cleaning tools. Below the step-by-step plan, you'll find a list of tools. You can buy these if the equipment is not included with your vaporizer, or if it needs replacing.
- Dismantle the vaporizer as much as possible. Take off any parts that you can disconnect from the vaporizer. For example the mouthpiece, oven, screens, or air passage.
- Use a scraper or brush to get all the rough bits of dirt off the vaporizer. Both from the individual parts and the vaporizer itself.
- Grab a container and place all the loose parts in it. Use a cleaning solution intended for vaporizers (supplied or from the list of tools below) and fill the container according to the instructions on the bottle. Some cleaning products require you to dilute with hot water. Some you don't.
- Soak the items in the container for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. After 30 minutes, keep shaking until all the dirt comes off.
- Does the dirt not want to come off? Then carefully take the parts out and remove the remaining dirt with pipe cleaners or brushes.
- Rinse the parts well to make sure there are no detergents left on them.
- Allow the parts to dry thoroughly. Make sure they are no longer wet or damp before reassembling them on the vaporizer.
- Use pipe cleaners, alcohol wipes, and cotton swabs to thoroughly clean the inside and outside of the vaporizer. These items allow you to get into nooks and crannies that you can't reach otherwise. NOTE! Make sure the inside of the vaporizer doesn't get wet. Use alcohol wipes and/or cotton swabs only for non-electronic devices. For example, do not allow alcohol droplets to leak through the oven or herb chamber of the vaporizer.

How to prevent a dirty Vaporizer?
Cleaning your vaporizer is not difficult. It only takes 40 minutes, of which only 10 minutes are actually spent doing something. Afterwards, you can enjoy clean, tasty and healthy vaping again. However, do you want to avoid having to clean your vaporizer thoroughly every time? Consider the following tips!
Clean directly after each session
If you give your vaporizer a quick clean every time after you've just finished vaping, you'll prevent stubborn dirt from building up and you'll practically never have to clean thoroughly. Your brush is your greatest friend. Remove all coarse debris and brush through the herb chamber, oven and mouthpiece. Use a pipe cleaner for the hard-to-reach spots and you're done! It's ready for the next session. And it didn't even take you a minute. Check out the video below from a vape guru who shows how he cleans his vaporizer after each session.
Replace screens regularly
As mentioned in the video, it is recommended that you replace the screens regularly. The screens are the metal meshes in your vaporizer. You'll often find them at the bottom of the oven or herb chamber and at the bottom of the mouthpiece. Over time, these get dirty and you need to replace them. Some vaporizer brands, such as the ones from Storz & Bickel, also provide extra fine screens. These are perfect for the mouthpiece because they prevent plant matter from getting into it. So replace them on time! You can tell when they need to be replaced by their discoloration.

Vape Wool
A great tool for keeping the oven or herb room clean is Vape Wool. This is degummed hemp fiber that you use as a protective layer. Simply put a small fluff of Vape Wool in the herb chamber and place your weed, hash or concentrates on top. Cover with a fluff of degummed hemp fiber as well and your oven will almost always stay completely clean! Vape Wool does not leave a flavour and is 100% safe.
