As an online headshop and seedshop with thousands of customers throughout Europe, we can of course not be missed at the most famous cannabis fair in the world. Dutch Headshop is going to Spannabis 2023. We're taking you to Fira de Cornellá in sunny Barcelona. “The whole cannabis world is there. Everywhere you go you smell weed and you see the most colorful figures passing by.”
A Journey Full of Fragrances and Colours
Dutch Headshop travels to Barcelona with a strong team of 9 employees to enjoy a day of Spannabis during the 3-day event. Once we have arrived at the gate at the airport, we see, hear and especially smell that we are not the only Spannabis visitors on this flight. Cannabis-related caps and shirts are present in large numbers. We hear people talking about the stock market and above all: a penetrating weed smell greets us. Yes, you can also smell the heavenly scent behind customs at Schiphol. Even on the plane.

The next day we leave from our hotel to Fira de Cornellá, the congress center in a suburb of Barcelona. And the weather is beautiful. The moment we board the metro to our final destination, a green smoke comes towards us again. Everywhere groups with the same shirts with various cannabis brands on it. The last part of the walk to the stock exchange is a bit like King's Day in Amsterdam. Almost everyone lights up a nice joint and the police don't seem to be surprised. We're in a good mood.

One Big, Happy, Open-Minded Cannabis Family
Once on the site you immediately taste and smell the atmosphere. The whole cannabis world is there. Everywhere you go you smell weed and you see the most colorful figures passing by. Everyone is happy. Most of the visitors stroll through the busy crowd with a joint, pipe or vaporizer in their mouth. On the tables you see completely displayed dabbing installations. Cheerful, green mascots of well-known cannabis brands walk around and give people in rasta colors with dreadlocks a high five. On the central square we immediately see two of our partners with a large, exuberant stand. Royal Queen Seeds is immediately to the left of the well-known glass pyramid with a huge stand, equipped with a roof terrace. On the right we see our friends from BAC standing next to a stage where the necessary reggae music is played.
Early in the day, a few minutes after opening, the square is pleasantly busy.
Merchandise is pressed into your hands everywhere you go. People walk around with large shopper bags full of stuff and are super happy when they receive another sticker. It's busy in front of the row of the cannabis beer stand. People enjoy their drink in the sun and of course the necessary fast food is also available. There is never a grim moment on the grounds. Everyone respects each other and greets each other with a smile.

Friends of Dutch Headshop
On the Spannabis site you have a large outdoor area with several large stands and eateries. Then there is the main hall, where the biggest brands can be found. The rest of the 338 stands are spread over four large halls. When we enter the main hall we notice that the aroma is not much different from outside. Everywhere people are smoking weed and products are being tested extensively. The staff behind the stands are mellow and most of them have red eyes. Full of passion, they tell entrepreneurs and consumers about their products, services or the identity of their brand.

Not far from the entrance we immediately see our friends from Plagron with a huge stand. Not far away we come across Mascotte, Sensi Seeds, Qnubu, Paradise Seeds, Advanced Nutrients, Dutch Passion and many others. When we walk past the stands, we shake hands with our contacts, have a chat and ask about the latest developments. Do they have something fun to test? Then our team is curious enough to accept that offer. In the meantime, we hand out the nicest Dutch Headshop goodies ourselves and we give away tickets with special Spannabis promotions. Do we see nice brands that we have not yet included in our range? Then we will of course take the time to get acquainted. You can therefore expect many new products in our shop in the coming months.
At the stand of TopGreen Technology Co / XVape, we experience a remarkable encounter. As soon as we greet the vaporizer manufacturer's staff, a Cheech & Chong-like figure immediately approaches us. When we tell them that we are from Dutch Headshop, the red carpet is just not rolled out for us! New models of vaporizers are pressed into our hands and we stick around for a while to test them.
Seedbanks, Headshops, Growshops & More
We stare at the Spannabis all day long. There is really a lot to see. Grow shops, cannabis media, CBD brands, consultants, extraction specialists, food producers, head shops and paraphernalia, vaporizer producers, seed banks, wholesalers and the medicinal branch of the cannabis industry are present every year.
When we walk through the gigantic halls, filled with thousands of stoners, one stand is even more interesting than the other. In addition to the large number of stands with food, cannabis seeds and smoking accessories, you will also come across unusual things. Gigantic grow tents and LED lamps are running. Cutting machines worth tens of thousands of euros are on display and pipes in the shape of appetizing sushi pieces pass by.

After walking all day in this cannabis heaven we are satisfied and start our journey back to the hotel. Spannabis is a great place for anyone who enjoys cannabis. Whether for business or pleasure. For consumers, the event is actually more like a festival than a fair. If you ever get the chance to visit sunny Barcelona during this time: Spannabis is a must!
About Spannabis 2023
Spannabis is an annual fair held in Barcelona since 2002. It was for many years the largest cannabis fair in the world and still the most famous today. The Fira de Cornellà convention center is home to Spannabis, with its signature glass pyramid-like building. Thousands of visitors come to the 3-day event every year. In addition to the many stands, Spannabis is also the site of the International Cannabis Forum. Interesting lectures are held every day on the medicinal qualities of the plant, research on the active ingredients, cultivation and consumption and risk reduction for companies in the market.
