Endocannabinoid System in Humans and Animals
Also for animals CBD can improve the quality of life. Not only humans, but also mammals, fish and mollusks have an endo cannabinoid system. This system responses to cannabinoids with the CB1 and CB2 receptors. The body also produces cannabinoids itself to activate this system. This neurotransmitter is called Anandamine, which means bliss.
CBD Oil starts to function when the endemic cannabinoid system of the body of your pet is activated through, for example, stress, anxiety or pain. So the effect of CBD on physical processes is indirect and focused on the improvement of the functioning of the body.
Worldwide, but especially in the U.S. and Canada, a lot of clinical research is done on the effectiveness of CBD for pets such as dogs, cats and horses. Good results are obtained especially as supportive in the normal medical treatment.
CBD Oil for Dog and Cat
The two most common pets are, of course, dogs and cats. No wonder people wonder what CBD oil can do for them. More scientific research needs to be done on the effects of CBD on these pets. However, there are already quite a few indications and user experiences from which we can draw tentative conclusions. What seems? CBD oil can be widely used in dogs and cats. For example, it would be effective in supporting digestion and movement. It can also provide a soothing feeling, which helps against stress in the four-legged friends.

Also for pets with palliative care, CBD can contribute to a dignified final phase of life of the animal. For psychological complaints a correct guidance or coaching of the animal is indispensable. CBD contributes to a stable base and balance, both in the animal’s body and animal’s overall life.
The wholesome CBD can be given to your pet without any side-effects. It contains no THC, so your pet won’t get stoned or high. Doses are different than for humans and in more in line with the body weight of the animal. Also for animals the final effective dose is determined individually and according to the symptoms.
1 Drop of CBD Oil for Dog or Cat is Sufficient
For a dog or cat, in general once or twice 1 drop of CBD oil sufficient as supportive food supplement. The first results are often observable after about a week with daily intakes. When there are no observable effects the dose can be increased with one drop. CBD oil is available in different strengths. For a supportive food supplement you don’t need to choose a concentrated CBD oil.
Make a Pie
Animals easily accept CBD drops when the CBD drop(s) are put on something tasteful, such as a kibble or small snack. Intake takes place partly through the oral mucosa and partly through the gastrointestinal tract.
Hemp Seed Oil
Not only CBD oil, but also hemp seed oil plus (with CBD) can be a healthy and supportive food supplement for pets. Only hemp seed oil contain the indispensable Omega 3, Omega 6 and Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA) in the right balance. Only when these fatty acids are in the right balance they will function. In complete animal feed there generally is sufficient Omega 6 fatty acids, but too little Omega 3. This is because these fatty acids quickly make dry horse, dog or cat feed rancid and will then have a reduced shelf time. It is known that fish oil and hemp seed oil contain a lot of Omega 3.
Cold-pressed Hemp Seed Oil
Cold-pressed hemp seed oil contains all essential amino acids and also antioxidants such as vitamin E, vitamin B and it's unique in the fact that it contains rare Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA). GLA is naturally present in breast milk and has a hormone regulating and anti-inflammatory effect.
Food Supplements such as CBD and Hemp Seed Oil
Hemp seed oil has, as food supplement, a high value to improve skin complaints, coat or nails. Hemp seed oil plus is enriched with extra CBD so the animal receives a healthy base for more balance in energy and health. Because of the extra vitamins and essential fatty acids in the hemp seed oil, the animal will develop a soft, shiny coat.
Complaints such as itching, scaling, excessive hair loss and eczema often respond extremely well to hemp seed oil in combination with CBD. Doses for horses are 1 to 2 spoons per day; a large dog 1 to 2 teaspoons per day and for a small dog ½ to ¼ teaspoons per day is sufficient.
Panacea?
CBD oil itself is not a magic potion for your pet. As part of an extensive and well-tuned care program it can contribute to a reduction in complaints and improved functioning. Inform your veterinarian that your pet uses CBD drops and never change the subscribed medication without consulting your veterinarian. CBD has no known negative interactions with medication or other supplements.
